MWF Newcastle Programs were launched during a week of activities from Nov 29-Dec 3 and proved to be a great success.
The program sails were our first since COVID restrictions lifted and we managed to complete six Winds of Joy trips over four days for 77 clients and carers.
Following the sails, around 100 guests from local sailing communities, businesses, schools and disability organisations joined the official launch celebrations. The event helped recruit several new volunteers and was featured in local newspapers, sailing publications and on Newcastle’s NBN News for two consecutive nights! We even had a few celebrities along including rugby legend David Campese and Newcastle MP Tim Crakanthorp.
Thanks to the support of our wonderful partners, Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club and Port Waratah Coal Services, the Newcastle Making Waves team are all set to commence a full program schedule for more than 1,000 clients over the next year!
