Pantaenius is excited to announce a new partnership with Making Waves Foundation (formerly Sailors with disABILITIES) as the Charity of Choice for the Pantaenius Breakout Regatta.

Contributing to the diverse and dynamic sail culture of Pittwater, Newcastle and Port Stephens this regatta will attract hundreds of participants for an exciting event. Making Waves Foundation General Manager, Christine Judd, said she was excited about joining the Regatta.

“We are delighted to be endorsed by Pantaenius. Being the Charity of Choice is an excellent way to build awareness of what we do and encourage everyone to get involved. Making Waves Foundation participation as the Charity of Choice will showcase how we enable children and youth with disabilities or at a disadvantage the opportunity to recognise their abilities through sailing. In addition to our other programs, we run our Northern Campaign annually up the East Coast from Sydney to as far north as MacKay and we reach nearly 755 participants. ”

For 26 years, Making Waves Foundation (previously Sailors with disABILITIES) has been offering life changing opportunities to children, youth and adults with disabilities and those at a disadvantage.

Using sailing as a catalyst for change, MWF supports more than 2,000 participants each year driven by close to 5,000 volunteer hours to empower and enable participants to have a more optimistic outlook for their personal growth and improved life outcomes.

On Saturday August 8th, Sunday August 9th and Friday August 14th, Making Waves Foundation will be presenting at the prize giving events at each destination location. Please let us know if you can attend.

Making Waves Foundation has been a regular competitor with their boat Wot Eva. Crew member Renee Smith said she is encouraged by the support they are receiving. “When children see me sailing in my wheelchair it shows them that they don’t have to be limited by their disability. That’s what we are all about.”

Many Newcastle schools and organisations already participate in MWF’s annual programs, with over 102 participants last year alone, with plans to expand to more schools it is hoped that this Regatta will increase fundraising for the charity.
