On Sunday, June 25, SWD raced in the Cruising Yacht Club Of Australia Winter Series aboard WOT EVA, finishing second in Division 1. Congratulations to all the winners and the SWD crew for an outstanding effort!
Among the SWD crew were regulars, including volunteers with disabilities ranging from MS and Spina Bifida to blindness and dyslexia, and two students who finished the 8-week Winds of Change program with SWD in December 2016.
The students, Skye and Aiden, catch the train all the way from south of Wollongong on a Sunday morning to race and continue engaging with SWD volunteers.
We'll demonstrate how Winds of Change had a truly positive impact on these students when we share their stories in coming weeks.
Meanwhile, SWD continues to race in the Winter Series with a crew that demonstrates that, no matter what your physical circumstances or your background, when you're given the opportunity to be included in activities that test your mental and physical capabilities, and you're among a supportive team, you get a chance to become the best version of yourself.
