From October 11-17 2020, National Carers Week was an opportunity to raise awareness amongst all Australians about the diversity of carers and their caring roles, as well as acknowledging the selfless, hard work they do for someone in their life.
Carers are people who provide unpaid care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, mental health condition, chronic illness, terminal illness, an alcohol or drug issue, or who are frail with age.
MWF's Winds of Care program exists to provide a respite and networking activity for carers, and acknowledge the selfless care and personal sacrifices they make for the people they love and care for.
With the help of Parramatta Mission, we were able to take a group of people who each cared for a young member of their family who were battling a mental illness and/or drug issue, on a cruise around Sydney Harbour.
